We, the staff and management of Charles Edwards Funeral Home mourn with The Cobb Family in the loss of their loved one, Deacon James Earl “Louis” Cobb of Fountain NC
Deacon Cobb was born on May 14, 1934 in Edgecombe County to the late Turner and Haley Vines Cobb. He attended and graduated from GW Carver Elementary School. In 1958 he married the love of his life, Mamie Ruth Bullock and to this union 5 children were born. He worked as a welder with Long Manufacture in Tarboro for a number of years. He retired from Collins and Aikman in Farmville. Being a committed and caring person he was a bus driver, Boy Scout leader, farmer who attended his own crop, bail bondsman, and also a former member of Banner Cry Masonic Lodge 625 where he was a Past Master.
Deacon Cobb’s journey with Crisp Chapel United American Free Will Baptist Church began May 5, 1955. His positions included Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of Deacon Board, Male Chorus, Church Treasurer, Union Treasurer, and Conference Treasurer.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mother Mamie Ruth Cobb of the Home. Three sons, Milton Cobb of Raleigh NC, Hilton Norris Cobb (Jacqueline) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Kevin Cobb of Newark, NJ. Two daughters, Wyvonnie Pauling (Christopher) of Charlotte NC and Lorie Cobb Leonard of Charlotte NC. Three sisters, Lillian Grace Williams of Tarboro NC, Dorothy Dickens of Fountain MC and Addie Pugh of Pinetops NC. Three aunts, Mary Jane Suggs and Shirley Nesmith both of Richmond VA and Mary Lee Vines of Greenville NC. Twelve Grandchildren, Tiffany Pauling, Christopher Pauling, Christian Pauling, Corbin Pauling, Erica Dupree, To’Brent Cobb- Leonard, Ty’Breon Cobb-Leonard, Shikithia Jenkins, Brittany Cobb, Adrienne Cobb, Bridget Dancy and Tiffany Artis. Nine great grandchildren, Five brother in laws, Seven sister in laws, One god daughter, Pastor Mary Jo Atkinson of Wilson Mc as One Godson, Charles Edwards of Fountain NC. Along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration will take place Sunday August 4, 2019 at 2:00pm at Crisp Chapel United American Free Will Baptist Church with Elder Steve Speight, Pastor Officiating. The Interment will follow in Bullock Cemetery in Fountain.
